Agnieszka Holland

Holland worked as an assistant to Andrzej Wajda and has made films in Poland, Germany, France and America. Her recent films are about people caught between regimes. Green Border follows refugees trapped in the swampy forest between Belarus and Poland. Charlatan tells the story of Jan Mikolášek, a Czech herbal healer whose skills the Nazi occupiers and then the Communists both want to use. Earlier she made an English The Secret Garden.
