Alexandros Avranas

Miss Violence brought Avranas out of the Greek Weird Wave, and it opens on an eleven-year-old's birthday party that is almost too well organised. His films are cold and very still, and they find cruelty inside respectable homes and institutions. Quiet Life follows a refugee family in Sweden whose youngest daughter falls into an unexplained coma after they are refused asylum.
