Don Coscarelli

Coscarelli made Phantasm in his early twenties: a teenage boy who has just lost his parents follows his brother to a funeral and sees the Tall Man lift a coffin on his own. His films are strange low-budget fantasies with their own mythology. The Beastmaster has a king's son raised in a village who can talk to animals. Bubba Ho-tep finds an old Elvis Presley alive in a Texas nursing home.
