Apt Pupil

dir. Bryan Singer · 1998

Todd Bowden, a seemingly ordinary teenager, stumbles upon a dark secret in his suburban neighborhood: his elderly neighbor, Arthur Denker, is a Nazi war criminal. As Todd engages in a chilling exchange of stories for silence, the boundaries of morality blur, leading him down a path of psychological transformation. Watching this film is like stepping into a shadowy realm where curiosity and evil intertwine, leaving you questioning the very nature of humanity.

Neighborhood boy Todd Bowden (Brad Renfro) discovers that an old man living on his block named Arthur Denker (Sir Ian Mackellan) is a Nazi war criminal. Bowden confronts Denker and offers him a deal: Bowden will not go to the authorities if Denker tells him stories of the concentration camps in World War II. Denker agrees and Bowden starts visiting him regularly. The more stories Bowden hears, the more it affects his personality.
