Casablanca Beats

dir. Nabil Ayouch · 2021

Finding one's voice and passion is essential for breaking free from societal constraints and truly living.

Anas, a former hip-hop emcee, steps into a cultural center in Casablanca, determined to inspire a group of students to embrace their passions and break free from the constraints of tradition. As they navigate the complexities of their identities through the lens of hip-hop, the film pulses with the energy of youthful ambition and the struggle for self-expression. Watching it feels like a vibrant jam session, where each character's voice contributes to a larger narrative of hope and resilience.

Former hip-hop emcee Anas takes a job at a cultural center in a working-class neighborhood in Casablanca. Encouraged by their new teacher, his students will try to free themselves from the weight of restrictive traditions in order to live their passions and express themselves through hip-hop.
