Dark Star
dir. John Carpenter · 1974
Life can become absurd and meaningless when faced with endless tasks and existential questions.
"Dark Star" offers a uniquely absurd take on sci-fi, blending deadpan humor with existential musings as a hapless crew grapples with their own existential crises and the sentience of their bomb. It’s a cult classic that’s as thought-provoking as it is funny, perfect for viewers who appreciate the quirks of independent cinema.
A group of scientists are sent on a mission to destroy unstable planets. Twenty years into their mission, they have to battle their alien mascot as well as a "sensitive" and intelligent bombing device that starts to question the meaning of its existence.
