Friday the 13th

dir. Sean S. Cunningham · 1980

A group of young counselors arrives at the long-abandoned Camp Crystal Lake, unaware of the dark history that looms over them. As they begin to settle in, a malevolent force picks them off one by one, revealing the fragility of their innocence and the weight of unacknowledged grief. Watching this film is a visceral experience, where the tension mounts with each passing moment, drawing viewers into a claustrophobic nightmare that feels all too real.

Camp Crystal Lake sits dormant, haunted by drowning and double murder. A fresh crew of counselors arrives to resurrect it, optimistic, oblivious, and working against a clock they cannot see. Someone is watching from the treeline. The killings begin quietly, one counselor at a time pulled from the periphery, while the storm rolls in and the phones go dead. What started as a summer job collapses into a siege. Alice, the last one standing, finds herself not just fighting for survival but confronting the grief of a mother the world forgot to mourn.
