Maya and her best friend Dini scrape by in Jakarta, working tollbooth shifts while dreaming of a clothing business. A violent encounter with a stranger wielding a golok forces Maya to confront a forgotten past, leading her to an old photograph of a grand house in the remote village of Harjosari. Believing this property is her ticket out of poverty, Maya drags a skeptical Dini along to investigate, posing as researchers to navigate the hostile community. They find the abandoned estate, but the village itself feels wrong, marked by frequent funerals and a cemetery overflowing with tiny graves.
