La La Land
dir. Damien Chazelle · 2016
Pursuing one's dreams can lead to difficult choices that challenge personal relationships and the balance between ambition and love.
"La La Land" is a visual and emotional symphony that captures the bittersweet essence of love and aspiration, as two dreamers navigate the dazzling yet harsh landscape of ambition in Los Angeles. With its vibrant aesthetic and poignant musical numbers, it invites viewers to reflect on the sacrifices made in the pursuit of dreams.
Mia, an aspiring actress, serves lattes to movie stars in between auditions and Sebastian, a jazz musician, scrapes by playing cocktail party gigs in dingy bars, but as success mounts they are faced with decisions that begin to fray the fragile fabric of their love affair, and the dreams they worked so hard to maintain in each other threaten to rip them apart.
