The Specials
dir. Éric Toledano, Olivier Nakache · 2019
True fulfillment comes from embracing and supporting those who are often overlooked by society.
"The Specials" offers a heartwarming glimpse into the lives of unconventional caregivers, blending comedy and drama to explore the resilience of the human spirit. This uplifting tale celebrates the power of found family amidst the challenges of autism, inviting viewers to connect with its richly drawn characters and their journey towards acceptance and understanding.
For twenty years, Bruno and Malik have lived in a different world—the world of autistic children and teens. In charge of two separate nonprofit organizations (The Hatch & The Shelter), they train young people from underprivileged areas to be caregivers for extreme cases that have been refused by all other institutions. It’s an exceptional partnership, outside of traditional settings, for some quite extraordinary characters.
