The Ugly Stepsister
dir. Emilie Blichfeldt · 2025
Elvira, desperate to outshine her stunning stepsister Agnes, resorts to increasingly bizarre and grotesque measures to win the heart of the prince. The film oscillates between comedic absurdity and dark horror, creating a surreal atmosphere where beauty becomes a weapon and ambition leads to grotesque transformations. Watching it feels like stepping into a twisted fairy tale where the stakes are as high as the absurdity is entertaining.
Elvira will go to any lengths to compete with her insanely-beautiful stepsister, the enchanting Agnes, and is willing to use blood, sweat, and tears to conquer the prince's heart. In a fairy-tale kingdom where beauty is a brutal business, Elvira fights tooth and nail to become the belle of the ball.
