dir. Rob Reiner · 1984
The pursuit of success can lead to absurdity and self-delusion, revealing the often humorous and tragic nature of human ambition.
"This Is Spinal Tap" is a hilarious mockumentary that brilliantly satirizes the absurdities of rock stardom, capturing the chaotic essence of a fictional band on the brink of oblivion. With its sharp wit and unforgettable moments, it’s a must-watch for anyone who loves music and comedy.
"This Is Spinal Tap" shines a light on the self-contained universe of a metal band struggling to get back on the charts, including everything from its complicated history of ups and downs, gold albums, name changes and undersold concert dates, along with the full host of requisite groupies, promoters, hangers-on and historians, sessions, release events and those special behind-the-scenes moments that keep it all real.
