The dislocation can be literal (a portal, a time jump, a wrong turn into the spirit realm) or social (an eccentric in a suburb, a runaway in unfamiliar terrain, a child navigating systems built for adults). What holds the shelf together is the shape: the character arrives without the codes, and the film is about what happens next — comedy, tragedy, or both.
