it all happens in one room

Every room in these films does something to the people inside it. In Room, a five-year-old knows the world as a ten-by-ten shed, because his mother furnished it as one and named it Room. The windowless cell in Oldboy feeds Oh Dae-Su, clothes him and sedates him for fifteen years without ever showing him a captor. The villa in Dogtooth supplies three grown siblings with everything they know about the world, most of it false. The jury room in 12 Angry Men holds eleven men who came in ready to convict and one who will not. You watch each room set the terms, and the people in it take those terms for the world.
