West's horror takes its time. The House of the Devil is set in 1983 and shot to look like it, with a college student who takes a strange babysitting job on the night of a lunar eclipse. X sends a small crew to a Texas farmhouse in 1979 to shoot an adult film, and Pearl goes back to the farm in 1918, where a young woman longs for a glamorous life like the ones in the movies.
