Abbas Kiarostami

Close-Up rebuilds a real fraud case, in which a man talked his way into a household by claiming to be a famous filmmaker, and casts the actual defendant and the actual family as themselves. Elsewhere Kiarostami follows a boy carrying a friend's notebook back across a hillside village in Where Is the Friend's House?, and a man driving the edges of Tehran in Taste of Cherry, looking for somebody willing to bury him. The camera sits in the passenger seat for long stretches and lets the conversation run. You watch for an hour before noticing you no longer know which parts were arranged.
