Sophie goes back through camcorder footage of a holiday with her father twenty years earlier in Aftersun, looking for what she was too young to see. Casablanca keeps a bar, a song and a woman who is not coming back. Past Lives gives two people one weekend to look at the life they did not have. The past is better than it was, everyone knows it, and it works anyway.
